Requesting the Joint Committee on Government and Finance study the
need for housing allowances by teachers and school service
personnel living in growth areas.
Whereas, In the several growth areas of this state it is more
difficult for teachers and school service personnel to keep pace
with their counterparts who reside in locations in the state where
the demand for affordable housing is less; and
Whereas, An inequity exists for teachers and school service
personnel who work in growth areas relative to those that do not,
because those who do not live in such growth areas, nevertheless
receive commensurate compensation for their service to those who
do; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Joint Committee on Government and Finance is hereby
requested to study the need for housing allowances by teachers and
school service personnel living in growth areas; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Joint Committee on Government and
Finance report to the regular session of the Legislature, 2006, on
its findings, conclusions and recommendations, together with drafts
of any legislation necessary to effectuate its recommendations;
and, be it
Further Resolved, That the expenses necessary to conduct this
study, to prepare a report and to draft necessary legislation be
paid from legislative appropriations to the Joint Committee on
Government and Finance.
